Best iPhone #Tennis Apps for 2013

If you are like me, Tennis and Technology go hand in hand.  Everyone on LoveSetMatch is a friend I have met through Twitter to start!  Being an iphone user and geek I thought it would be fun to put together some of the best iPhone apps for tennis.  I will be updating this list as I find new apps and welcome your suggestions in the comment section.

ATP/WTA Live is the official Live Scoring App from the ATP World Tour and WTA. This is a MUST HAVE app that i check hourly and have running while I watch any game.  It also helps when going to a tournament to see which stadium the players are and what the upcoming schedule is.  DOWNLOAD NOW!

Eurosport – Keep up with all the latest sports action with Eurosport’s faster, smoother, new-look app. This is my second fav app as it has a specific tennis category that gives you real time scores as well as stories and videos of the tennis world.

Tennis World – The Tennis World Italia official app is online.Tennis World is a portal dedicated to everything about the sport of tennis. It comes in English and Italian.  The app is a bit clunky and not easy to manage but has a lot of good news and stories.

Racquet Tune – With racquetTune you will always have the optimal racquet to play with. Tap the strings and racquetTune will use the sound to calculate the tension with high accuracy. The interactive swingweight calculator helps you customizing your racquet. And with the stiffness calculator you can simulate different racquet configurations.

The Tennis App – THE TENNiS APP brings all things tennis to the iPhone and iPod Touch. We have professional interactive video and instruction from Grand Slam winning pros, ATP and WTA rankings, and live tennis news.

USTA.TV – As the governing body of tennis, The United States Tennis Association is proud to offer USTA.TV, an application for the iPhone and iPad that allows everyone to access public and private content posted on the USTA’s Dartfish TV channel for free.

Easy Breezy for Roger Federer #RG13

Easy Breezy for Roger Federer #RG13

The 17th Grand Slam winner Roger Federer wins match against Devvarman 62 61 61 In three easy sets!

“You obviously know he’s capable of doing certain things, and you try and make life as tough for him as possible,” said Devvarman, who played college tennis at Virginia. “In my case today, I didn’t execute. And sometimes even when I did, I feel like he came up with the better shot.”

“I think I’m playing OK,” Federer said in something of an understatement, considering he’s dropped 11 games through six sets so far. “Definitely think the next match is going to be sort of the big test for me, to see exactly where I stand. I’m happy that I was playing offensive and aggressive tennis in the first two matches, because I had the opportunity, but I didn’t back off and start to play passive tennis and wait for mistakes. So I took it to my opponent,” said Federer, the 2009 French Open champion. “But really, I think I’ll only know more after the Benneteau match, to be quite honest.”

Benneteau explained, “Obviously it’s all pretty tricky, (playing) Federer. He breezed through the first two rounds. He plays very well. … You know you’re going to have to really ramp up a gear.”

Viktor Troicki is Upset

Troicki is not happy about a line call. Enjoy the crazy!

Update: Novak Djokovic’s take on Troicki’s Meltdown

“I thought it was a fantastic thing to do,” Djokovic said. “I thought it was so funny and so creative, because you don’t find it now in sport, in tennis. It’s very conservative sport, you know, rules and everything.

“So it’s fun to see some entertainment, even though I know in that moment he wasn’t thinking about entertaining a crowd. He was more thinking of that ball and trying to prove a point. But it looked very funny, very, very funny.”

Federer Fashion Evolution

Cummerbund and crooked bow tie for Rog but Mirka is stunning!

There is an amazing collection of 20 photos showing Fed with some questionable style choices and bad haircuts.  At 18 he really let his hair grow out and had a kind of heavy metal mullet look!  In one stage he looked very much like Marty McFly. See the full evolution at Business Insider

A Tennis Video show?

I have been dreaming of a Tennis video show that would be fun to watch and show more than just a talking head reading the news about Tennis.  As an avid tennis player I know there are thousands of videos out there about how to hit a forehand like Federer or how to serve like Sampras.  I have also seen many of the video racquet reviews from the many retail stores online.

I guess what I am thinking about is a show which spotlights Tennis Culture.  The amazing fans of Tennis.  Sure, Tennis isn’t much without the pros but it’s also the fans that make Tennis special.  I have met many super cool friends online via Twitter and feel a kind of kinship with them because we are TENNIS CRAZY.

Michele Drohan is avid tennis player who lives in Manhattan and works for a video and TV product company called Sling Media. She also happens to have the RF logo tattooed onto her wrist,

I am talking obsessive over the top- our friends start to worry about us – tennis passion.  The motivation that drives someone to travel hundreds of miles just to see our GOAT hit a ball on a court.

Last year I stood in line for hours waiting to meet Roger Federer.  It was actually @federerfan07 that tipped me off that he was going to meet only 150 people at Indian Wells. It was not confirmed but I drove up 2 hours from my house for a chance to see the Maestro. I felt dizzy with anticipation and hope.  Through twitter it was semi-confirmed by Tracey @ Wilson that Tennis Warehouse was hosting a Roger Federer signing and I was giddy like a school girl on valentines day. My heart was racing. I couldn’t stop tweeting or talking.

Standing in line for hours I got to meet so many people who were crazy like me.  Crazier actually.  People from India.  A man from Pittsburgh.  A family from Spain.  All there and willing to wait hours for a chance to meet their Idol.  To me, those people and their stories is the show.  Sure tennis giveaways, racquet reviews and hopefully live interviews with pros – but all from the perspective of an over the top unabashed fan.

What do you think?  Am I on to something? Would you watch this?  Is this just stupid? Do you know of something like this already? I would really appreciate any thoughts you have on this.
